One of the university hostel females reportedly filmed the tapes and transmitted them to a man, who then put them to the internet.
According to the news agency ANI, protesting students have claimed loss of life and injuries as a result of this event. According to Mohali Police, the case involves a video taken and disseminated by a female student.

According to a Jagran article, the student had been taking inappropriate material of other ladies in the hostel for a long time and transmitting it to a man in Shimla who would then disclose it online.
According to the article, eight girls attempted suicide after learning that their recordings had been posted online.
The police, on the other hand, disputed this. Vivek Soni, senior superintendent of police in Mohali, cited medical documents to say there was no suicide attempt and no death was registered.
Notably, a FIR was filed in the case, and the accused student was detained as well.
“It’s a matter of a video being shot by a girl student and circulated. FIR registered in the matter and accused student was arrested. No death reported related to this incident. As per medical records, no attempt (to commit suicide) was reported”: Vivek Soni, SSP Mohali said.

He stated that electronic gadgets and mobile phones had been taken into custody and would be transferred for forensic analysis.
A social media video showed a female student being transported in an ambulance. When asked about it, the officer stated:
“One of the students who was taken in an ambulance was anxious, and our staff is in contact with her. Aside from the footage of one student, no additional video has been brought to our attention.”
According to the Hindustan Times, a complaint has been filed against the accused girl at the Gharuan police station under Sections 354C of the Indian Penal Code and related provisions of the IT Act.
Education Minister Harjot Bains called the event a “serious concern,” saying, “I respectfully implore all the students of Chandigarh University to keep calm, no one responsible would be spared.” It’s a really delicate issue that concerns the dignity of our sisters and daughters. We should all be extremely cautious, especially the media, since this is a test for us as a society.

An unconfirmed video of the girl who reportedly created the tapes is now making the rounds on social media, and she can be heard confessing to her crime. This video implies that she disseminated the footage for monetary gain.

“This is a severe situation, and an inquiry is now ongoing. I’m here to reassure the pupils’ parents that the accused would not be spared” According to ANI.
